Ash (Tenor/Baritone) (Lead): Male, 18-35
hero and iconic character of the musical, devoted S-Mart housewares employee evolves over the course of the show from a cowardly college student to a wise cracking deadite slayer with his detachable hand chainsaw and 12 gauge "boomstick"
Linda (Soprano) (Lead): Female, 18-35
the prototypical girl next door, sweet, thoughtful, and completely devoted to Ash, until she turns evil and tries to kill him, laughs an annoyingly inordinate amount of time after transforming.
Cheryl (Mezzo-Soprano) (Lead): Female, 18-35
Ash's sister and the odd woman out in the group, looking to spend a week relaxing, she is the recipient of Scotty's jokes and torment, the only one to sense the evil surrounding the cabin, she is the first to be possessed, turning her into an aggressive, foul mouthed demon that speaks in very bad puns, spends the majority of the show locked in the cellar.
Scotty (Tenor/Baritone) (Lead): Male, 18-35
a prankster and Ash's best friend, thinks himself the brave one until he's forced to kill, then his panic leads him to flee, returns to warn Ash about the woods and attempts to help his friend even as he is knocking on death's door.
Shelly (Mezzo-Soprano) (Lead): Female, 18-35
beautiful, easy, and not too smart, Scotty's latest fling and looking to party, just because she becomes an evil demon doesn't mean she can't look good doing it.
Annie (Mezzo-Soprano) (Lead): Female, 18-35
the overbearing, sexy, explorer who finds missing pages to the Necronomicon and wants to reunite with her father to continue their research, very bossy and drawn to Ash, must be comfortable in a tear away revealing costume.
Ed (Tenor/Baritone) (Lead): Male, 18-35
Annie's coworker, boyfriend, and doormat, travels with her to the cabin to proceed with their research of the book of the dead, after turning evil, his confidence may lack but this "Bit Part Demon" is ready to sing.

The Gilbert continues to actively explore ways to engage with our diverse community in regards to the representation of culture, race, ethnicity, socio-economic class, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and disability on and off stage. We create more opportunities for actors and other artists who have been historically underrepresented on and off the stage.
Regarding Working at the Gilbert
The Gilbert Theater is a semi-professional, community minded which offers paid positions to professional and semi-professional actors in leading or specialty roles and volunteer opportunities.
The theater is unable to compensate actors at a level which recognizes the value of their talent, training, or time in the way a fully professional company might. Compensation ranges from a basic Equity contract to Guest Artist to a simple gas stipend. Housing for out of town guests is available. Equity actors are often brought in one to two weeks before tech and are expected to be able to step into a role with very limited rehearsal time. Contract terms are negotiated individually.
